Spread some cooking oil on a heated griddle. |
 |
Ingredients of okonomiyaki usually come in a small bowl.
Mix them up well. |
 |
Drop the mixture to the grridle, using a spoon. |
 |
Using spatulas, make the mixture into a round shape.
Like in the photo, try to make the edge neat.
It prevents okonomiyaki from crumbling. |
 |
Then, put the pork rib that come on a separate plate,
on the okonomiyaki. |
 |
Cook one side well for 5 minutes, while you rotate okonomiyaki
little by little.
Rotating is to cook evenly. |
 |
Now, the hard part...turning the okonomiyaki upside down.
Use both hands, and two spatulas.
Once you're under way, don't hesitate.
Doing it slow doesn't help. |
 |
Now, the pork rib on the other side is been cooked, and the taste
of it spreads out to the okonomiyaki.
Rotate the okonomiyaki little by little again, and cook for 5 minutes.
Many people tend to squash it down to the griddle with spatulas,
but we suggest you don't.
It makes the tasty meat juice go out of the okonomiyaki. |
 |
Turn it upside down again.
It's your second time...easy if you get used to it, isn't it? |
 |
Now, the finishing. Put lots of sauce on and... |
 |
put mayonnaise on.
We usually make a mesh pattern with it, to look good. |
 |
Put some shaved dried bonito and green laver as seasonings. |
